Tour Summary/ Features:

This exciting tour takes you to Park National des Volcans (PNV); beyond Ruhengeri Town. Also known as Volcano National Park, this is Rwanda’s most famed attraction, and is where all of Rwanda’s gorilla tracking is enjoyed.

Like a gorgeous mural with all six of Rwanda’s volcanoes lined up in sequence, you will certainly delight in trekking through the chain of misty volcanoes while enjoying clean air and panoramic views as you trail the rare mountain gorillas.

Occupying 125 sq km of montane forest, the park sits about 104 km from the capital city –Kigali.

Trekking the forest and tracking the giant apes is an educative, entertaining, and refreshing experience!

 

Day 1: (ARRIVAL) KIGALI – VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK
Arrival at Kigali airport, meet and greet. Time allowing*, you will visit Gisozi´s Genocide Memorial, and the crafts village.

After lunch you will proceed to Ruhengeri and Kinigi, the HQ of Volcanoes NP, home of the endangered mountain gorilla.
It is a 2 ˝ -hour drive through a stunning scenery of lush green hills and valleys until we reach the base of Sabinyo mountain –one of the Virunga Volcanoes. Rwanda is known as “Land of a Thousand Hills”.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Gorillas Nest or similar

Day 2: VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the national park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers before departing for the hike in search for the Great Mountain Gorillas.

The excursion in the thick rainforest and the interaction with the mountain ape, gives a wonderful experience. You will have lunch after returning from the hike to the hotel and your afternoon Free for relaxing..

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Gorillas Nest or similar

Day 3: VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK – KIGALI
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the national park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers before departing for the hike in search for the Great Mountain Gorillas.

You will be returned to your hotel for lunch after the hike. In the afternoon you will depart for Kigali. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner at the hotel or a choice restaurant.

Overnight at Novotel Umubano or similar

Day 4: KIGALI (DEPARTURE)
Enjoy a hearty Breakfast before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight*.

 

*Note: Depending on the flight schedules (arrival and departure) the city tour of Kigali, including a visit to Gisozi´s Genocide Memorial and the crafts village, might take place on Day 1, Day 3 or split between both days.
